Bastion recently finished working on a new BOP Transporter design to be implemented on three semi-submersibles for deepwater offshore drilling. Our scope of design utilized both Solidworks and ANSYS FEA software. Our scope of work entailed designing the main structure, which stands over 50 feet tall and weighs nearly 400 tons. The new design is capable of supporting a 1.2 million pound riser which will be lifted 10,000 feet from the ocean floor. Other aspects of the project included the design of the bridge system and tractor drive rack, gear boxes, and variable frequency AC motor drives.
