BASTION AWARDED MAJOR NASA CONTRACT TO PROVIDE MECHANICAL SYSTEMS ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE GODDARD SPACE FLIGHT CENTER
The Goddard Space Flight Center Mechanical Systems Engineering Services (MSES) II/B contract was awarded on January 30, 2007 to Bastion Technologies, Inc. (Bastion). NASA chose Bastion and its teaming partners, Orbital Sciences Corporation/Technical Services Division (TSD), and Millennium Engineering and Integration Company (MEI), to provide mechanical engineering support services for the study, design, development, fabrication, integration, testing, verification, and operations of space flight, airborne, and ground system hardware and software, including developing and validating new technologies to enable future space and science missions.
MSES II/B is a NASA small business contract requiring high end engineering services that are ideally suited to Bastion's capabilities. Bastion is known for designing, developing, testing, manufacturing, and integrating autonomous robotic systems, environmental control and life support equipment, active thermal control systems equipment, as well as hardware and software upgrades, modifications, and build-to-print provisioning for crew equipment consisting of both mechanical and electrical/electronic hardware and software elements. Although Bastion is a small disadvantaged business, they support many major NASA programs, including Shuttle, International Space Station (ISS), and advanced programs for future exploration missions. The President of Bastion Technologies, Jorge Hernandez, eagerly accepts the challenge of providing the optimum technical solutions for Goddard's new programs and projects saying, "Our team worked very hard to understand Goddard's requirements and will continue to work diligently with Goddard to implement cost savings and innovative approaches that result in the quality services needed, now and in the future."
Bastion's teaming partners, Orbital TSD and MEI bring significant strengths and top notch technical capability to the MSES II/B effort. Orbital TSD supplies services to GSFC and other major NASA Centers with experience covering full life cycle space flight hardware from early concept development through final fabrication, integration, and operation. MEI provides extraordinary technical capability in composites, contamination, sensors, detectors, and research and technology.
