Huntsville, Alabama - On April 30, 2009, Bastion Technologies, Inc., was competitively selected for a direct award of a significant safety services contract under the United States Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) Express Contract, teaming with TYBRIN Corporation and QinetiQ North America's Systems Engineering Group (formerly Westar Aerospace & Defense). The $13 million dollar contract supports system safety engineering functions for the AMCOM Safety Office, Missile Systems Safety Engineering Division, over a 5-year period.
Bastion is a small disadvantaged business with more than 625 employees who support major Government programs nationwide. For AMCOM, Bastion will provide technical expertise for tasks, such as developing or reviewing safety documentation, implementing and maintaining hazard tracking systems, supporting review boards for insensitive munitions, fuze, battery, and rocket motor ignition systems, and improving existing safety practices and technologies. Further, Bastion will support all activities associated with hazard classification processes for missile systems, including multi-stage systems that use liquid and solid rocket propellants, and systems safety engineering for unmanned ground vehicle systems.
Mr. Jeffrey Smith was selected to lead Bastion's AMCOM Express Safety Services team largely due to his extensive experience with the United States Army and expertise in Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Improvised Explosive Devices.
