On August 16th at SSC Safety and Health Day, Ruth Hextall and Donald Smith, were honored with the presentation of coveted “Yes-If” Coins for their use of positive safety professional methodologies in approving proposed work activities. The “Yes-If” Coin Award was begun by NASA Headquarters and is presented to SMA personnel who demonstrate a “Yes-If” philosophy instead of a “No-Because” approach in their work for the space agency. Ms. Hextall received her coin for support she provided to proposed procedures to operating pressure systems and Mr. Smith received his coin for his support of proposed construction activities on the SSC Test Stands and throughout SSC. The coins were presented by Commander Terry Wilcutt (NASA Headquarters SMA Chief) and Dr. Richard Gilbrech (SSC Director). It is believed that less than 100 coins have been presented NASA wide, making them a very prized and rare commendation.
