Bastion Awarded $267.5 Million Marshall Safety and Mission Assurance Services (SMAS) Contract

NASA has selected Bastion Technologies, along with teammates Engility Corporation and Southwest Research Institute to provide safety and mission assurance support services at the agency’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The cost plus award fee contract has a base period of two years, which begins November 1, 2017, six one-year options, and a potential total value of $267.5 million.
Bastion will be responsible for providing a range of services including safety, mission support, and technical and engineering services to the Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Directorate at Marshall, NASA’s Stennis Space Center; Michoud Assembly Facility and Resident Management Offices across the country.
SMA services includes planning, implementation, and assessment of system safety engineering, industrial safety, reliability and maintainability engineering, SMA management information, software assurance, pressure vessel assessment, quality assurance/engineering, project assurance, risk management, independent assessment, documentation and report support. Programs and projects supported include NASA’s Space Launch System, International Space Station, flight projects, science missions, and technology development projects.
