Why should I choose Bastion Survival Training?

We pride ourselves on going the extra mile to make sure your training experience is both educational and enjoyable. Our training is thorough, immersive and delivered by top experts in high consequence training. It is our goal that each attendee receives the time and attention required to ensure complete confidence in the areas in which they have been trained.

Our team of instructors is also responsible for the safety and well-being of NASA astronauts during their training. No other training center in the world can offer this exceptional level of support and guidance as you participate in our safety and survival training programs.

What courses do you deliver?

Currently, we deliver oil & gas safety training in the areas of survival, marine, fire, and HSE. Please visit our Courses page to see a complete listing of Bastion Survival Training courses.

We are constantly working to expand our course offerings based on the needs of our customers. If you'd like to request a course we do not currently deliver please send us an email or phone us at (888) 216-2131 or (281) 283-9344.

We recognize it's not practical or efficient for customers to travel to multiple training provider locations in order to gain access to the courses they require. We now offer a variety of bundled course packages aimed at reducing the need to travel to multiple locations. The bundled courses are offered at a discounted rate to add further value.

Why do you require an ID check?

To enroll in a course it is a requirement to produce a government issued form of ID, such as a driver's license or passport. In accordance with OPITO, we need to confirm identity in order to issue a valid certificate and to upload your details to the OPITO central register.

If you are a US citizen or permanent resident, you will be asked to provide one form of ID at least three business days in advance. If you are a foreign national, two forms of ID will be needed five business days in advance of your course.

However, your name and contact details will be recorded and potentially screened at a later date as part of a security audit. Foreign nationals will have work eligibility status checked prior to attending a course. Any information supplied is kept strictly confidential.
Do you run a credit check as part of the enrollment process?
No, we do not run credit checks.
I can't swim and have a water phobia. Will this exclude me from the course?

No. We understand that not all people feel 'at home' in a water environment. Your safety is our number one priority. It is perfectly normal to feel apprehensive about doing the water exercises for the first time. You will be fully supervised by trained professionals during your time in the water. Remember, this is a highly controlled environment and training process. We would never put you in a situation that jeopardizes your well-being.

We want you to enjoy your experience and learn how to control your actions during an emergency. If you're feeling too apprehensive about participating in the pool then please be aware that our instructors are here to help. We have no problems with giving time outs, one-on-one training or allowing you to come back at a later date free of charge.

Will I get to see the astronauts training?
NASA still has a strong astronaut training program and uses the NBL on a daily basis. It is very likely that during your time here you will see astronauts training in the pool and walking around the facility.
Can I take photos inside the NBL?
Yes. In fact, we encourage it. However, please ask your instructor when it is appropriate to take pictures in advance as we need your full attention during training.
Do I get a free t-shirt at the end of the course?
You will not receive a free t-shirt just for completing your training but there are NBL, Bastion Survival Training and NASA t-shirts available for purchase at the facility. A printed certificate will be issued upon completion of the course.
Do you provide lunch during training?
Yes. As part of your course fee, you will be given a number of lunch options, including salad, hot meal choices, sandwiches and daily specials. Tea and coffee will be supplied throughout the day.
